The False Colours Show
Happy/sad rhythmic and uplifting jangle folk -
with a few fitting covers for good measure!
One of the things that we have consistently been told since we started performing together in 2018, is that we have such an unusual sound that can't quite be pigeonholed. Our songs vary widely in theme and sound, though a solidly folky thread runs throughout and as such we are regularly compared to "The Beautiful South" Kirsty MacColl and Eliza Carthy, with a hint of Mumford and Sons. Themes span from the housing crisis, identity, and a longing to escape right through to the frustration of dealing with people who can't be wrong and the struggle of what to eat after the pub. False Colours bring a refreshing variation to any festival or venue line-up and are consistently praised by audience members for being unexpectedly wholesome and captivating.
A typical False Colours show has a friendly, welcoming and unifying vibe. Our relaxed and playful live sets are perfect for listening audiences, mixing refreshing and intricate original songs with a few carefully chosen covers to keep the night flowing. Expect plenty of stories, chaotic humour, endless harmonies and smiles on the journey home.
As a guide, when doing a standalone full evening show, we would usually perform two 45-minute sets with a half an hour break in between. For this we would charge £230 plus travel, but we always strive to be flexible to the needs of the venue.
- We normally perform as a duo, bringing:
-
Electric tenor guitar
-
Electric mandocello
-
Electric double bass
-
Bass drum
-
Two lead vocals & lots of harmonies
We can also perform as a trio, with added acoustic guitar, mandolin and banjo.
WHAT WE NEED

“It's rare that I recommend any band but what I find so wonderful about Polly and Jade is that they are truly unique in what they do. This is real original music played and sung from the heart and mind and delivered with a huge amount of charm and warmth. I would book them any day.”
“Polly and Jade have a clear connection that allows them to not only write great songs, but also deliver them with skill and empathy. Jangle folk is on the map."
Stuart Green, FATEA Magazine
"Superb! I highly recommend checking this talented pair out. They were my favourite part of LeeStock. I loved the humour, great songs and the overall sound was superb."
